The Dells meet the Dramatics in this nice set of tracks that sound more like the Dramatics' stuff on Volt than it does the Dells' stuff on Cadet (even though the LP is on that label). The tracks are mostly sung by the groups separately – with the Dells singing "I Wish It Was Me You Loved", "Playin The Love Game", and "Strung Out Over You"; and the Dramatics singing "Tune Up", "Door To Your Heart", and "Choosing Up On You". But both groups join together, and sing two tracks – "Love Is Missing From Our Lives" and "I'm In Love". Nice gatefold package, with a cool Jack Davis basketball drawing on the cover. (Original gatefold pressing. Cover has a one-inch long peeled spot on the spine.)  © 1996-2014, Dusty Groove, Inc.

Atlantic, 1972. Near Mint-
Wicked electric funk from Young Holt Unlimited – and a real departure from the sound of their 60s albums, and a step into a groove that's very 70s-styled overall! The album's heavy on Fender Rhodes – played not just by group member Ken Chaney, but also by a young Bobby Lyle – ... LP, Vinyl record album

Cadet, 1966. Very Good-
One of the better albums by this great Chicago soul studio group – but all of them are pretty nice! The great Richard Evans is still at the head of The Strings, and the album features solo work by Charles Stepney and Lennie Druss, in a cool breezy Chess/Cadet soul jazz kind of mode. The ...
