CD (Item 622509) EM (Japan), Late 70s/Early 80s — Condition: New Copy

Amazing sounds from Brenda Ray and Naffi Sandwich – a mixed-up blend of post-punk and Jamaican styles – all very much in the best mode of The Slits or Ruts, but even more offbeat overall! The recordings here are mostly pretty simple – often issued to the public on limited cassettes – but that simplicity really makes the sounds special – an unusual homegrown blend of spare guitar, electronics, and dubby production – often graced with Brenda's surprisingly sweet vocals – which have a Marine Girls-like quality. The package does a great job of pulling these rare sides together – and titles include "Krazee Music", "D'Ya Hear Me", "The Scream", "Take Me In Your Car (full length version)", "Rahmatullah", "Moonbeams", "Maybe It's Because I'm Not A Londoner (long version)", and "Spring Thing Hippy Dread".  © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc.
