Nigeria Afrobeat Special – The New Explosive Sound In 1970s NigeriaVarious
CD (Item 504669) Soundway (UK), 1970s — Condition: New Copy
An explosive entry in Soundway's impeccable Nigeria Special series of rare Afrobeat – digging deep for for material that's largely been lost for years and years – many recorded in the wake of the Fela revolution and all of it exciting and essential! Of all the stellar tracks on the set – which features numbers by Orlando Julius, Segun Bucknor, Saxon Lee and more – the lead off track may be the most revelatory. It's the original 1971 Fela recording of "Who're You" – which was eventually re-recorded at Abbey Road for his London Scene LP – insistent, funky and a amazing from the first sax & drum burst. The whole things outstanding, though, with numbers recorded for Decca, Phillips, EMI, Polydor in 1970s Nigeria. Incredible stuff, and the Soundway presentation is top notch as always! 11 tracks on the CD version: "Who Are You" (original 45 version) by Fela Ransome Kuti & The Africa 70, "We Dy Find Money" by Eric Showboy Akaeze & His Royal Ericos, "Enwan" by The Anansa Professionals, "Mind Your Business" by Saxon Lee & The Shadows International, "Afro-Blues" by Orlando Julius & His Afro-Sounders, "Ariwo Yaa" by Bob Ohiri And His Uhuru Sounds, "Ole" by Black Santiagos and more. © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc. | |||||
