A really amazing live set from Jimi Hendrix – recorded in Berkeley at a very fervent time in that city's scene – which spins out in some amazing interplay between the musicians on the stage, and the rapturous fans in the audience! Hendrix is right on the money throughout – ripping through guitar lines that remind us that there's few out there who can still touch his genius in this stretch – and the show's recorded with just the right focus on Jimi to really make his power resonate strongly throughout! The set features the full second set of the May 30 performance from 1970 – presented in order, in its entirety, with beautiful mastering. Titles include "Pass It On", "Hey Baby", "Foxy Lady", "Purple Haze", "Star Spangled Banner", "Hey Joe", "Stone Free", and even an introductory part that's pretty compelling! (Limited numbered edition!)  © 1996-2014, Dusty Groove, Inc.

One of the wildest records of the early 70s – and it's still pretty darn hard to argue with the power of this one – even if the meddling of the producers is nearly as legendary as the album itself! There's still such a manic energy to the original release mix – one that clearly ... LP, Vinyl record album

Numero, 1970s. New Copy 2LP Gatefold
A really tremendous batch of dark-themed tunes from the American underground of the 70s – a treasure trove of under-discovered acts who were all inspired by the deeper brooding of the Led Zep and Black Sabbath generation! The second triple strength set of classic and rare Unwound from our friends at Numero! A beautiful early 70s psych folk set from the angelic vocal and songwriting duo of Pat Gefell and Jo D Andrews – their Refuge album for Ovation in 1973 – highlighted by their gorgeous vocals, but committed with lovely, lightly soaring arrangements! One of the most monumental debuts in rock history! Led Zeppelin pretty much took over rock right from the beginning – which isn't too surprising, given that Jimmy Page had an in-demand guitar heavy for years already – but this one is astonishing to this day. Godlike work from the legendary Nick Drake – and exactly the kind of record that's made him a continuing legend over the years! One of our favorite Atlantic albums by the great Yusef Lateef – an incredible session that has him dipping back into his earlier exotic roots with those great reed styles of the early 60s – yet also hitting a mix of soul and funk like some of his other albums from the time!
