Two great lost numbers from one of our favorite soul artists of all time! "I Can Take Care" is a rolling midtempo number, with that loping Chi soul groove that Gene was working in afer his early Vee Jay sides. Gene's vocals really send us – especially on the the chorus, when they go over the top! "Mr Big Shot" is a great cut too – with a strumming guitar underneath the beat, in kind of a hip mod style that's a real surprise to hear from Gene! There's some backup vocals on the chorus, but the verse has Gene rolling ahead full steam.  © 1996-2014, Dusty Groove, Inc.

A killer cut by The Metros – one of Detroit soul's best secrets in the 60s! The track is amazing – dipping, turning, and soaring with this groove that even knocks out most Motown classics – and it's backed here by an equally great number, making for one hell of a 45! 7-inch, Vinyl record

Lovely numbers from Sandi Sheldon cut for Okeh and issued here by Outta Sight UK! A cool trippy groove builds nicely at the start of "Return Of Green Snake" – organ and bass snaking over some slinky drums – while guitar rings out a bit to encourage this great keyboard solo in the middle! "Spy Potion" continues the eerie, psych-ish feel – ... 7-inch, Vinyl record
