Countdown – Here We Is Again Vol 2
LP (Item 609369) Andrew's Music, 1977 — Condition: New Copy
A relatively straight set from reedman Andrew White – but a great set too! The album's one of a number of key live recordings from the 70s – done with a familiar group that includes Donald Waters on piano, Steve Novosel on bass, and Bernard Sweetney on drums – players who can swing straight when needed, but really open up too! On side one, White takes a great long time with Benny Golson's "Slightly Hip" – really opening up the tune, and pushing it to the limit with his freewheeling solo. Side two features slightly shorter tunes – versions of "Circle" and "Countdown" – but still full of rich solo imagination! (Original pressing!) © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc. | |||||
