A mind-bending survey of the golden age of modern Senegalese music! The Dakar Sound label has unearthed loads of great stuff, but nothing tops this compilation, which features tracks from just about all of the major players, demonstrating the breadth and genius of what was going down in Dakar. From the gently percolating Afro-Cuban grooves of the mighty Star Band – the group that started it all in the 60s – to the garage-like psychedelia of Etoile 2000, it's all here. Among the highlights are rare gems like "N'Xalam" by Orchestra Baobab, "Noguini, Noguini" by Number One de Dakar , "Dioubou" by Youssou N'Dour's one-time bandmate in Etoile de Dakar El Hadji Faye, and "Victor" by Baobab singer Mapenda Seck.
