CD (Item 477669) Essential, Early 80s — Condition: New Copy

Not your usual Philly compilation – as the set's way more obscure than the 60s classics or 70s Gamble & Huff numbers that usually show up with Philadelphia in the title! Instead, this batch is relatively unknown sides from later years – mostly from the 80s, by the sound of the grooves – and usually in a blend of mellow and midtempo modes, showing the maturation of the Philly sound after the hit disco years. There's a bit of notes on the set, but they don't do a good job of telling the original release of the tracks – and we can say that some of the numbers here are supposedly unreleased, mixed in with other tracks that saw little exposure when they did get issued. Some cuts are later remakes of 70s Philly classics – and titles include "Girl Is Bad" by For Love, "Open Up Your Heart" by Theryl, "Love Train" by Joe Freeman, "Love I Lost" and "Bad Luck" by David Simmons, "Are You Lonely" by Hipnotic, "All Of My Love" by Kim Covington, "Sneakin" by Joe Freeman, and "All My Love" by James Carmichael.  © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc.
