Ruth Brown '65
LP (Item 397944) Mainstream, 1965 — Condition: Used
An interesting set for Brown, working in more of a jazzy/bluesy style rather than the R&B vein for which she was mainly known. The album was arranged and conducted by Peter Matz with fairly lavish orchestrations accompanied by Brown's mainly mellow vocals. Hank Jones, Clark Terry, Barry Galbraith, Richard Davis, Urbie Green and other jazz musicians fill out the roster alongside the large string section. Titles include two from Nellie Lutcher "Hurry On Down" and "He's A Real Gone Guy" and Dick Hyman's "Watch It", "Whispering Grass", "I Know Why", "Here's That Rainy Day", and a very interesting interpretation of "On The Good Ship Lollipop". (Cover has some tape and peeling on the spine and some notes on back.) © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc. | |||||
