CD (Item 479060) Cat/Henry Stone, 1976 — Condition: New Copy

A monster of a rare funk album – recorded by a tight little combo who should have been huge! Raw Soul Express have a touch of jazz in their playing – coming off here with a sound that reminds us of Wood Brass & Steel, and a rare few other funk acts of the time who knew how to do more than just hit a heavy drum and pluck a noisy bass! Not that the band is slick, though, because they definitely earn the "raw" in their name with some sharp edges on the instrumentation – it's just that they're great at what they do, with a quality level that shows up on more than a few of the album's sparkling tracks. Titles include "RSE", "Burn The Candle", "Music Meditation", "Right On", and "Emergency". (Note: although these CDs are legit, they are produced as CDRs with artwork by copyright owner Henry Stone.)  © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc.
