4.50 5

70's 2LP set that reissues some of the classic tenor material from Griff and Lockjaw recorded for the Jazzland label in the early 60's. The set's got some great gutsy hardbop material, plus a number of excellent Monk interpretations. Titles include "Epistrophy", "Camp Meeting", "Tin Tin Deo", "Walkin", and "Good Bait". Nice set of notes on the duo, too! (Cover has some wear.)  © 1996-2014, Dusty Groove, Inc.

Les McCann sings on this set of short soul tracks with production by Bert DeCoteaux. As you may know, Les' voice is more about style than quality, but it sounds pretty groovy on a couple of the tracks here. He also plays electric piano on a number of cuts, including "Us" and "Butter ... LP, Vinyl record album
