Narada Michael Walden at the top of his game – unleashing a sweet set of 80s grooves that are possibly more solid than his work in the 70s! Although Walden's got somewhat righteous roots, it's clear that his best strength is actually his more mainstream work – the kind of tight, catchy grooves served up on this set – awash in beats and keyboards, but also with some jazzier touches as well! Michael Gibbs serves up some great fuller arrangements on a few tracks – helping to warm things up slightly – and titles include "You're #1", "Summer Lady", "I'm Ready", "Safe In My Arms", "Confidence", and "Holiday". (Includes the original lryic sleeve. Cover has an unglued top seam & some staining. Labels have some marker.)  © 1996-2014, Dusty Groove, Inc.

House Of Music
Mirage/Atlantic, 1980. Very Good+
Livin' the "Bon Bon Vie", with this classic uptempo groover from T.S. Monk! You'd hardly guess that this guy was Thelonious Monk's son – but who cares about his roots when the album grooves so hard? This Monk plays drums, not piano, but the best tracks on the record have a tight ... LP, Vinyl record album

Bare Back
Atlantic, 1978. Very Good+
The Temptations on Atlantic Records – sounding different than their Motown years, and still pretty darn great! Invictus, 1977. Very Good-
A classic deep soul set from Eloise Laws – an early album recorded for Invictus Records, and done with stellar production from Brian Holland! Blue Magic
Atco, 1974. Very Good-
The start of a tremendous run from Blue Magic – easily one of the greatest harmony groups of the 70s, a quintet we'd place in a rare class with heavy hitters like The Stylistics or The Moments! The album's smooth and sweet, but never slick – perfectly arranged by the great Norman ... LP, Vinyl record album

Smoke
Chocolate City, 1976. Sealed
This group were one of a number to use the name Smoke during the 70s – but at some point they were forced to change their name to Black Smoke, and you'll see the record listed both ways, but with the same cover. The band's a mixed ensemble of funk players – and they've got a sound that ... LP, Vinyl record album
