Daphne Oram Tapes Vol 1
CD (Item 602367) Young Americans (UK), Late 50s/Early 60s — Condition: New Copy
Amazing archival sounds from Daphne Oram – a late 50s British experimentalist, and one who worked in some really noisy electronic modes! With a name like Daphne, you might expect the music to be light and pretty – but the music is incredibly dark and complex – really a lot more like some of the most experimental sounds coming out of the early years of the noise scene two decades later – and hardly what you'd expect from someone working in the BBC workshop! The package is huge – 4 very heavy LPs, all taken from over 500 tapes in the Oram archives – with titles that include "Oddments", "Ursa Major", "Shell", "Hospital", "Mermaid", "OGS", "London University", "Wool", "Manchester 2", "Oxford", and "Eton". (Really great package too – kind of a book-sized, fold-out cover!) © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc. | |||||
