Colour Circle
LP (Item 606552) Cadence, 1988 — Condition: New Copy
A really rich little record – billed as being by the William Hooker Orchestra, but only featuring the trio of Hooker on drums, Roy Campbell on trumpet, and Booker T Williams on tenor! Yet despite the small number of players, the sound is quite fierce – no bass, piano, or other instruments – just these highly propulsive drums from Hooker, which never seem to lose energy – pushing up searing, searching horn lines from Campbell and Williams – almost with an old school sort of New York soulful spiritualism at the core! Titles include the side-long "Colour Circle", plus "Revisited Science", "Society Negro American", and "The Rising Culture". © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc. | |||||
