Crumbling In The Shadows Is Fraulein Miller's Stale Cake (3CD box set)
CD (Item 588008) Centering, 1994/2010 — Condition: New Copy
Incredible work from one of the most accomplished bassists of our time – the legendary William Parker, stretching out here in a trio of solo CD recordings! The first two CDs in the set are brand new – solo material recorded recently by Parker, with a real maturation of his sound – that continuing fascination with the sonic textures of the bass – often played with qualities that go far beyond music, and which show why Parker's music has reached much wider audiences than some of his jazz contemporaries – and by that, we mean much more left-field and avant audiences, not mainstream ones! The third CD features the album Testimony from 1994 – Parker's first solo bass recording, and a nice contrast to the other two – a bit more contemplative, and arguably more soulful too – although still already showing a keen ear for fresh sounds. Box features a 48 page booklet, with new writings by Parker – who's as thoughtful on the page as he is on his instrument! (Limited to 1000 copies.) © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc. | |||||
