Wonderful material from the ever-brilliant, and thankfully, once again prolific Van Dyke Parks – the fourth release in his stylistically diverse 7-inch series of the early 10s! Van Dyke Parks is a composer and creative spirit capable of breathing fresh live into a 230-years-old Christian hymn, and he does just that with "Amazing Graces". Sweet strings and other light orchestral touches, along with folksier elements such as handclaps, and an overall sunny, orch pop groove! "Hold Back Time" is a vocal tune that's vintage style Van Dyke – reminiscent of his legendary late 60s arrangements and productions with Brian Wilson and Harry Nilsson, and of course, his own amazing Song Cycles.
