Although she began her career as more of a hard soul diva, this LP from the late 70's is a bit of an attempt to turn her into a club diva. The track "Queen Of The Disco" would be the biggest proof of this, but there's also a bunch of nice cuts that have more of a soul feel to them, and the set does include arrangements by David VanDepitt and McKinley Jackson, who do a good job of getting the best out of Ruby. Tracks include "A Change Is Gonna Come", "A Love Feeling", "A Little Fixin Up", and "I Wanna Be Near You". Earl Van Dyke plays keyboards, too! Goin' For Myself
Sussex, 1972. Very Good+
Classic funky groovers from Dennis Coffey – with his hard guitar sound gettin' all fuzzy over some loud drums and funky Sussex production!
