Taylor Made Jazz
LP (Item 43273) Argo, Late 50s — Condition: Used
Think what you want about Taylor, this session's a nice little cooker that was cut around the same time as Argo's famous hard swing sets by Paul Gonsalves, Jimmy Woode, and Clark Terry – possibly the same time as those sessions, as they all seem to overlap personnel and mood quite a bit. This one's got more than a few Ellingtonians in tow – including Gonsalves, Terry, Earl May, Ed Thigpen, and Harry Carney – but the mode of swinging is shorter and harder, with all tracks written by Taylor. Titles include "Tune For Tex", "Cu Blu", "Biddy's Beat", "Theodora", and "Mood For Mendes". (Black label Argo pressing with deep groove. Cover has a vintage price sticker and some splitting on the top & bottom seams.) © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc. | |||||
