A great example of the Kenton powerhouse in action – a 90 minute double-live recording that really set a new standard for jazz sets of its type! The album features a side apiece dedicated to each of the three acts – one by Kenton's orchestra, one by Christy on vocals, and one by the Four Freshmen – the latter two supported by Kenton's group on their own sides, then joining together for a final fourth side that features all artists together. The approach is a great one – very vibrant, and certainly crowd-pleasing – and titles include "Artistry In Rhythm", "My Old Flame", "I Want To Be Happy", "Midnight Sun", "Day In Day Out", "Angel Eyes", and "Love For Sale". (In a gatefold sleeve with a booklet in the middle. Cover has some splitting on the top seam.)  © 1996-2014, Dusty Groove, Inc.

Capitol, Early 70s/1976. Near Mint-
Excellent live set from the early 70's, featuring George Duke, Airto, Ernie Watts, and brother Nat. David Axelrod produced, and the LP's got that nice hard funky sound that he did so well during his stint with Cannonball. Includes the 12 minute groover "The Brakes", plus "Oh ... Feels So Good
Kudu, 1975. Very Good
An incredible batch of electric funk from Grover Washington Jr – easily one of his best albums ever! The record really picks up from the sweet CTI sound of the 70s – taking Bob James arrangements with a lot of space and electric keyboards, and letting Groover blow some wonderfully ... Jazz At Ann Arbor
Pacific Jazz, 1954. Good
An excellent early album from Chet Baker – recorded with his classic quartet lineup that included Russ Freeman on piano – and done in conjunction with a concert recorded in Ann Arbor, Michigan – oddly promoted by Ollie McLaughlin, a legendary figure on the Detroit soul scene in ...
