Rare work from Otis Redding – material recorded during his legendary run for Stax Records in the 60s, all of which was never issued at the time! The quality here is still tremendously high – way more so than most of Redding's many imitators at the time, and proof that even on a bad day, Otis was still King – singing both original material and key covers with an undeniable sense of soul! There's a few alternate takes here that illuminate more famous versions of Redding tunes – but most of the numbers are unreleased cuts that add a lot of new music to the Otis Redding catalog.
