I Got Rhythm
CD (Item 503489) Verve (Japan), 1956 — Condition: New Copy
Teddy Wilson's got plenty of rhythm here, thanks to support from bassist Gene Ramey and drummer Jo Jones – both players who help the album swing a bit more than some of Wilson's mellower sets of the 50s! As usual, Teddy's got a completely unique touch on the keys of the piano – fluid and warm, yet never in a sleepy sort of way – always creatively picking out just the right path through a melody, one that hangs onto the tune, yet still lets Wilson leave plenty of his own mark on the songs as well. Titles include "Smile", "I Got Rhythm", "Stars Fell On Alabama", "Savoy", "Say It Isn't So", "All Of Me", "Blues For Daryl", and "You're Driving Me Crazy". © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc. | |||||
