Private Dreams & Public Nightmares
CD (Item 601413) Aperture (UK), 2011 — Condition: New Copy
A very cool little project – one that features archival recordings from electronic music legend Daphne Oram, reworked into new sounds by Andrea Parker and Daz Quayle! Some of the recordings are live, some are studio – and there's definitely a heavy influence of the dark area that Parker's been working in lately – that rich, deep, almost bottomless sonic area that goes much farther than before – and pushes Oram's already-amazing sounds into this broodingly brilliant space right from the start. There's a textural quality that almost reminds us of the best early Throbbing Gristle experiments – minus any vocals or gimmicks – and titles include "Women's Hour", "Oddments", "Ghost Hamlet", "Trepidation", "Are You There", and "Now & Always Here". © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc. | |||||
