CD (Item 594227) Air/Reel Time, 1970 — Condition: New Copy
A groovy soundtrack for a Roger Corman film – and one that's filled with some offbeat rock tunes created for the movie! There's kind of an offbeat feel to most of the numbers – tunes that aren't really trying to get on the radio at all, or be hits of any kind – and which more seek to echo popular modes of the period, and then wrap them around some of the themes of the film. The most soundtrack-like numbers are the instrumental ones – which often break the rock format a bit, and get nice and interesting with the instrumentation. The core group on the set are supposedly The Fish – from Country Joe & The Fish – who sound especially nice on instrumental numbers that include "Cry A Little", "Juke Box Serenade", "Castles", "Bubble Gum Girl", and "The Pueblo Pool", billed to Johnny & The Tornados; appearing next to vocal numbers "This Is The Beginning", "I'm Looking For A World", and "World That We All Dreamed Of" by Robert Corff; and "First Time Last Time" and "Today Is Where" by The Gourmet's Delight. © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc. | |||||
