Great little jazzy groovers from this new Italian combo! The group's got a classic Blue Note sound – mixing up soul jazz and modal grooves, with some very tight playing and a strong commitment to a classic sound. The horn players in the group are pretty accomplished, and the trumpet, trombone, and alto sax solos on the record often bristle with a lot more energy than on the usual sort of retro-groover album. The rhythm section's pretty darn nice, too – and the tracks have a hard groove that reminds us of classic lines by Art Blakey from the early 60s!
