Hells Angels On Wheels
CD (Item 596911) Smash/Reel Time, 1967 — Condition: New Copy
Tripped-out genius from Stu Phillips – and one of the best biker soundtracks ever! This one was scored for a film that starred a young Jack Nicholson and actual members of the Hells Angels group themselves – and Stu created a really groovy set of tracks that pushes past the obvious cliches of the genre! Gone are the so-so rock numbers that you'd get on a Tower soundtrack, and in their place are some really great instrumentals – stepping with a blend of fuzz, organ, and funk – and often including these great wordless vocals that kind of scat along with the grooves! That last aspect is what really makes the set a great one – and gives the tracks a light jazzy sound that makes for a really unique record. One track is a vocal number – "Study In Motion #1", sung by The Poor, a pretty great Brit-sounding act – and other tracks include "Poet Scores", "Four Five Sex", "Bike Ballet", "Hells Angels On Wheels", "Flowers", and "Skip To My Mary J". © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc. | |||||
