Music In Motion
CD (Item 592507) Groove Kid Nation, 2011 — Condition: New Copy
Grade school music class was never this funky – and if it was, we might have ended up recording for Daptone Records, instead of just shilling records! The CD is surprisingly wonderful – a package aimed at teaching kids about music, but which comes across with this wicked vintage funk energy – a tight early 70s approach to the grooves – almost like the JBs were guesting on Sesame Street, working with Roosevelt Franklin, Gordon, and Maria to liven things up a bit! There's a really solid soul approach to the whole thing – both in music and vocals – and the tunes have kid-based themes, but are served up with great deep funk appeal. Honestly, these cuts sound like some lost funky kid soul from the 70s – of the sort you'd be shelling out big for if they were on rare 45s. Titles include "Kool Katz", "Itch & Scratch", "Get Up Get Down Get Funky Get Loose", "4 Little Kittens", "Fast & Slow", and "Go Kat Go". © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc. | |||||
