CD (Item 474424) Atco/Collectors Choice, 1965 — Condition: New Copy

A rare Atlantic session from Latin legend Louie Ramirez – and one of his tightest and hardest-hitting albums of the pre-Latin Soul years! The record features Louie really grooving hard with a group co-led by Ozzie Torrens – one that mixes just the right amount of jazz into the mix to keep things interesting, and to move the album out of the pachanga, charanga, and cha cha styles of earlier 60s Latin. Like many of the Atlantic Latin sides from the time, there's a top-shelf quality to this record all the way through – a better-than-average sound that's apparent not only in the crackling and ever-changing rhythms, but also in the record's nice use of sax, organ, and other jazzy elements! Titles include "Jumpin With Symphony Sid", "Monton Simon", "Tumbando Cana", "Manha De Carnaval", "Como Esta Mi Conuco", "On Green Dolphin Street", and "Mueve La Cadera".  © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc.
