Apocallypsis (with bonus tracks)
CD (Item 605173) Xendra/Lion, 1970 — Condition: New Copy
A set billed as the first hard rock album recorded in Peru – quite a bold statement, given the heady brew of music coming out of that scene in the early 70s! Yet the set definitely lives up to that promise – with a dark-edged vibe that brings together some of the best late 60s British heavy sounds with some influences from the harder side of the American scene – as heard in the record's versions of tunes by Jimi Hendrix and Liquid Smoke! Lyrics are in English throughout – another factor that ties the set well to the best Anglo sounds of the time – but the guitar is the real star – ripping and burning through most numbers, balancing psych-ish fuzz with tighter lines that really set the whole thing on fire. Drums are nice too – really driving things along – and titles include "I Can Do It If You Do It", "Where Did You Go", "Apocallypsis", "Are You Ready", "Power Of Soul", "Flowers In The Morning", and "Rock & Roll Soul". CD features 4 bonus tracks – "Anoche No Dormi", "Looky Looky", "Where Did You Go (7" version)", and "Raindrops Keep Falling On My Head". © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc. | |||||
