CD (Item 598788) King (Japan), 1960 — Condition: New Copy

One of the coolest records we've ever heard from Japanese jazz vocalist Chiemi Eri – one that's got a decidedly Latin feel in the rhythms – with plenty of Afro-Cuban elements, despite the Spanish reference in the title! The percussion is heavy, and the instrumentation is bold – and Chiemi's got a force here that you don't always here on other records – really driven forth strongly, with soulful undercurrents that mightily match the rhythms, and which help set the record on fire right from the start! Lyrics are in Spanish, and swung very well – and titles include "Anna", "El Cumbanchero", "Cachito", "Babalu", "Historia De Un Amor", and "Quizas Quizas Quizas".
