CD (Item 599174) Atco/Collectors Choice, 1967 — Condition: New Copy
Sonny without Cher – and sounding pretty darn amazing! The album's a really unique solo effort from the man on the LA scene – and as you might guess from the title, one that's a lot more cerebral than the jangly pop he was better known for at the time – almost psychedelic at times, with some really "right on" lyrics that kind of take off where "The Beat Goes On" ended – offering up some commentary on the times, with tripped-out arrangements that definitely fit the flavor of the lyrics! The leadoff track – "I Just Sit There" – is a stunning twelve minutes long – and the whole album hangs together line a suite of similarly-themed tunes – with other titles that include "I Just Told My Girl To Go Away", "I Would Marry You Today", "My Best Friend's Girl Is Out Of Sight", and the ultra-groovy drug song "Pammie's On A Bummer". © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc. | |||||
