Bold, boozy work from Carmen McRae – a wonderfully mature album from that great time when her style was equal parts jazz and soul – put together here by arranger/producer Arif Mardin, a perfect choice for the record! There's a care to the overall presentation not heard in some of McRae's albums from a few years before – not just jazz vocals with a backing group, but a really rich presentation of some hip, modern, all-adult material that somehow sounds even better in Carmen's hands than anyone else. Titles include the sublime title tune "Just A Little Lovin" – plus"Goodbye Joe", "I Love The Life I Live", "Carry That Weight", "Something", "I Want You", "More Today Than Yesterday", and "Didn't We". The Shadow Of Your Smile has Bobby working partially in that more adult 60s mode that was influenced strongly by changes in soundtrack styles – especially that 60s trend towards letting some serious younger songwriters pen important tunes for the titles. Atlantic, 1959. Very Good-
A nice little live set from Chris – recorded at the Village Vanguard with a group that includes Kenny Burrell on guitar, Eddie De Haas on bass, Bill Rubenstein on piano, and Lex Humphries on drums. Atlantic, 1959. Very Good
A lovely side by Chris Connor for Atlantic, recorded not too long after her stint at Bethlehem – where she'd perfected an icy cool style of singing that's still to be matched to this day! The album features larger arrangements by Richard Wess – but still has a light jazzy feel, ... LP, Vinyl record album

BeeGee, Early 70s. Near Mint-
Ok, we'll admit that most of this album is kind of weak – and Amanda's a sort of Nina Simone wanna-be – but there are a few nice songs on here with a pretty good groove! Both "Sad Songs" and "That's It" have some great arrangements that mix complicated ... LP, Vinyl record album
