Noah Howard kicks it mightily with drummer Bobby Kapp – working here in a spare set of duets that really burn with a lot of fire! The set's a great reminder of what a bold player Howard can be in an unstructured setting – blowing alto with the sort of ferocity of some of the best free jazz tenor greats – at a level here that may not even need Kapp's drum work for inspiration, yet still seems to derive some nice energy from it as well.
