A budget set, but a surprisingly well-done collection of early 80s electro sounds – one that offers up some especially nice moments from the British scene of the time! Back in the day, imports from the UK did plenty to help shape the sound of American music – not just soul in the clubs, but hip hop in the hoods and house in the Windy City – as new modes of rhythms and instrumentation broke big in local scenes, thanks to a large influx of import 12" singles! This collection brings back some of the best of that generation – with a few American tracks as well – and the whole thing does an especially nice job of pulling out important mixes, many of which still have a good resonance today.
