One of a number groups that Norman Whitfield was working with during the late 70s – the most famous of which was Rose Royce, and perhaps the least famous of which was Nytro. The group's got a sound that's similar to Rose Royce, with a mix of male and female vocals, and a basic style that's mostly funky soul, but which sounds even better on the ballads. The album's got a great spacey electric ballad called "Dreaming", which could have been lifted off of one of the early albums by RR – and it's got a number of bass-heavy funk numbers like "Atmosphere", "Trick Bag", "What It Is", and "Atomic Funk". (Cover has a cutout notch and some wear.)  © 1996-2014, Dusty Groove, Inc.

RCA, 1974. Very Good+ Gatefold
Although the Main Ingredient were best known for their early 70's singles, this album from '74 is a wonderfully complex batch of tunes that shows that the group were taking a cue from some of their hipper contemporaries, and pushing past a stock hit formula. One of the most fantastic albums by the JBs – a masterpiece of funky jamming, tight instrumentation, and that free yet tight style of the James Brown 70s years! The last album recorded by Charles Wright with the Watts 103rd Street Rhythm Band – and a set that's even more stretched out and trippy than their other albums! Wonderful work from Dionne Warwick's lesser-known sister – a hell of a great singer, and one who packs even more punch than her famous sibling! The gem of a set has all the poise and class of Dionne, but comes across with a lot more soul as well – a great mix that's very much in the ... LP, Vinyl record album

A great little album by Terry Gibbs – one that's free from the gimmicks that could sometimes mar his other efforts, and which really lets the vibist get a chance to open up in a session of straight ahead tunes with a surprising degree of soul!
