Skanish Sound – Jamaican Influenced Music From Spain 1964 to 1972Various
LP (Item 613676) Vampi Soul (Spain), 1960s/Early 70s — Condition: New Copy
Jamaican-inspired tunes by Spanish groups of the mid 60s to early 70s – ska and rocksteady rhythms with timeless, warm and universally-flavored pop vocals, harmonies and melodies – surprisingly wonderful stuff! Skanish Sound does indeed of numbers with ska-inspired rhythms, but, it's absolutely not a collection of Jamaican-pretenders from Spain. Along with the Carribbean-steeped rhythms, there's bits of global R&B and pop in the DNA – much of it with flowing under wonderful solo and group vocals, some groovy organs and other great 60s sounds. "Mi Chico Bombon" and "Dulce Guillermo" by Los Antifaces, "Ska Jamaiquino" by Los Blues De Espana, "Operacion Sol" by Francisco Heredero, "Marilena" by Los Stop, "Herido" by Albert Band, "Cuando Digas Si" by Los Catinos, "Gente Loca" by Los Mismos and more. 16 tracks on the vinyl version. © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc. | |||||
