Madly tripped out guitar funk – and a real turning point in the career of guitarist Eddie Fisher! Eddie began his career as a straighter guitarist on the St Louis scene – and although his first album for Cadet was a relatively traditional soul-jazz outing, this one's a wild batch of tripped-out guitar licks! The band's a fuzzy psychedelic one – not in a rock-styled way, but more in an early George Clinton kind of mode, with plenty of rumbling bass at the bottom, warm electric piano lines, nicely placed drum beats, and Eddie's fuzzbox guitar snaking and wah wah-ing over the top! Eddie arranged and produced, and the record's a perfect batch of kicked-back stoner funk numbers that go on and on and on and on! Titles include "Land Of Our Father", "Beautiful Things", "East St Louis Blues", "Another Episode", "Either Or", and "Jeremiah Pucket".  © 1996-2014, Dusty Groove, Inc.

For The Good Times
Prestige, 1973. New Copy (reissue)
One of Rusty Bryant's last albums for Prestige – recorded in that more-electric mode that graced the label's albums of the year 1973 – but in a style that's still pretty darn nice! The group's still a small combo – with Rusy on tenor and alto, plus with Hank Jones on electric ... LP, Vinyl record album

Journey
Chiaroscuro, 1977. New Copy (reissue)
A landmark New York session from Dollar Brand – recorded in the late 70s, with a larger group than usual! Kilmarnock, 1973. New Copy
A set of tracks from Galt MacDermot's musical Dude – co-written with Hair lyricist Jerome Ragni, and featuring vocals by Salome Bey (of Andy & The Bey Sisters fame!) Jazztime, 1961. New Copy (reissue)
The only full album ever issued by tenor player Rocky Boyd – but a set so great, it's definitely made a name for him over the years! Boyd's got a wonderful tone on the set – sharp and soulful, with an approach to the tenor that almost reminds us of early 60s Jackie McLean – ... LP, Vinyl record album

Tommy Turrentine
Time, 1959. New Copy (reissue)
One of the most fantastic hardbop albums of all time! Tommy Turrentine was the less-famous trumpet-playing brother of Stanley Turrentine – but he was a hell of a player in his early days, and he cut some amazing records with his brother during the younger years of his career. Got To Get Your Own
Cadet, 1975. New Copy (reissue)
Monster funk from Hammond hero Reuben Wilson – an album of hard-burning, bad-walking tunes that are a fair bit different than most of his other work! An even headier set than the famous Overground record by Sandro Brugnolini – a sound library recording like that one, but done in a much more psychedelic style overall! A lost bit of funky vibes and Fender Rhodes – one of those few records that's as sublime as it is rare – like work by Billy Wooten or Lyman Woodard! A beautiful, beautiful little record – as righteous and soulful as some of the best spiritual jazz classics of the 70s – and arguably even rarer, as it was only issued on a tiny label from Atlanta! Nice nice reissue of one of the greatest records to come out of Galt MacDermot's legendary Kilmarnock label!
