LP (Item 32937) Decca, 1955 — Condition: Used

One of the strangest albums ever released by Peggy Lee! The record is a perfect showcase for her haunting voice, and has her singing some extremely spare tracks, with minimal arrangements behind her, and a dark brooding quality throughout. The record has somber washes of harp and harpsichord, which really give a strange quality to the record – and almost make it feel like an early session by Nico. We'd never guessed that Peggy could sound so dark – and the tracks are a very odd mix of material with folksy touches. Titles incloude "A Brown Bird Singing", "Sea Fever", "Nine Thorny Thickets", "Of Such Is The Kingdom Of God", and "Chinese Love Poems". Very strange – and very beautiful! (Original rainbow label pressing, with deep groove. Cover has masking tape on the spine and bottom seam, some seam splitting, and some pen on the back.)  © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc.
