Hot Rod Hootenanny (Record Store Day Black Friday release)
LP (Item 590685) Capitol/Sundazed, 1963 — Condition: New Copy
A groovy groovy Hootenanny – and one that features some of the coolest grooves ever cut by Capitol Records in the 60s! The package is a very unique outing – a studio group put together by hip producer Gary Usher – obviously cashing in on the hot rod craze of the time, but going way beyond the usual – from the great work in the studio, to the ultra-cool cover from Ed Big Daddy Roth! Mr Gasser's vocals are handled by Bob Klimes – who gets killer guitar support from the trio of Howard Roberts, Jerry Cole, and a young Glen Campbell – all working in a group with Leon Russell on piano, Steve Douglas on tenor, and Hal Blaine on drums. The whole thing's as groovy as you could imagine – and titles include "Termites In My Woody", "Effen It Don't Go Chrome It", "Weirdo Wiggle", "Dragnutz", "Hot Rod Hootenanny", "Mad'Vette", "You Ain't Nothin But A Honda", and "Chopped Nash". (Indie store exclusive release for Black Friday, 2011. Limited edition.) © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc. | |||||
