A great one by the Detroit Emeralds – one of their tighest for Westbound! The tracks all have a nice hard soul sound, with good little bits of funk mixed up with the band's strong harmonies, which sound especially nice on the album's uptempo cuts. Includes the groovy semi-hit "Do Me Right", plus the great loping groover "Lee", and the cuts "Holding On", "I Can't See Myself", and "What You Gonna Do About Me". Wicked electric funk from Young Holt Unlimited – and a real departure from the sound of their 60s albums, and a step into a groove that's very 70s-styled overall! Columbia, 1978. Very Good
Massive work from the great Cheryl Lynn – and a key bridge between late 70s disco and the newer grooves of the 80s club scene! The album's a mix of midtempo groovers with a few mellower tracks – and it's got a tight, slightly jazzy sound that was very fresh at the time, and which still ... LP, Vinyl record album
