Flying Doctor Merry Freud
CD (Item 621903) Columbia (Japan), 1970 — Condition: New Copy
A strange name, but a very groovy album – one that features lots of flute from Yasuo Shimira, and heavy piano from Masao Nakajima – all tied up in a blend that's quite unusual! At times, the album has the groovy punch of other Japanese jazz experiments of the time – but at others, it's got a looser, freer feel – not really "out", but lyrically expressive – especially on the flute – in ways that really keep things interesting! Arrangements are nice – pretty darn fresh, even for a set like this – and titles include "Smiling Phases", "Valley Of The Doll", "Flying Dr", "Rosemary's Baby", "Siciliano", and "Merry's Apple". © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc. | |||||
