Sweetest Sound
CD (Item 585884) MPS (Japan), 1965 — Condition: New Copy
One of the earliest standout albums on MPS – a killer mid 60s session from pianist/vocalist Elsie Bianchi – working here in a very tight trio mode! Elsie only sings on about half the tracks, but all those are very very nice – done in a style that's got some of the cool touches of the European female mode of the time. But even better are the instrumental numbers, because Bianchi's a sprightly talent on the keys – really leaping around nicely, and working with the bass of Siro Bianchi and drums of Charly Antolini in one of the first great takes on the Saba groove! Titles include a great bossa-esque version of Pete Jolly's "Little Bird", a groovy take on "Fiddler On The Roof", and Elsie's own "Little Blues" – plus the tracks "Meditation", "Why Did I Choose You", "Teach Me Tonight", and "The Shadows Of Paris". © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc. | |||||
