Seven Giant Steps For Coltrane – Here We Is Again Vol 7
LP (Item 609374) Andrew's Music, 1977 — Condition: New Copy
An amazing album – not just for its tribute to the tune "Giant Steps" – but for the great playing of saxophonist Andrew White! In a move that almost makes him like the Pop-O-Pies of the jazz world, White serves up 7 versions of the same tune – an idea might be a bit odd, when the tune is Coltrane's legendary "Giant Steps", and when White improvises freely to take each version in a whole new direction, the album's quite a treat! Most tracks feature only White soloing , but the last number also features a piano trio grooving hard in the background – with Donald Waters on piano and Steve Novosel on bass. Pulled from performances from the years 1974 to 1976, and issued on White's own label! (Original pressing!) © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc. | |||||
