All The People
LP (Item 576746) Freestyle (UK), 2011 — Condition: New Copy
Keyboard flavored funky, jazzy sweetness from The Fantastics – who've had a pretty terrific run of funky 45s and a tight full length – delivering their best work yet and one of our favorite albums on Freestyle of the past couple years with All The People! There's a real love of timeless jazzy soul and funk, with some Latin-y percussion and harder hitting funk on a couple tunes, but what's great is how assured and sort of cohesive the vibe is – they're not rolling through genres, it's got a tight feel and the musicianship is totally stellar. The group features modern funk veteran Greg Boraman of the Soul Providers and Reverend Cleatus & The Soul Saviours on Hammond and other keys, with Pete Collison on guitar, Raydn Hunter on bass, James Smith on drums, Mark Norton on sax & flute, and some guest players – most notably, Sulent Fleming – who delivers some sultry, smoky soul vocals on a handful of numbers. Includes "Mushroom Strut", "Swwetback", "Somewhere Finally", "All The People", "No Right Turns", "Know No Gods", "I Breathe", "The Bone Breaker", "Cold Case" and "Cecil's Slide". © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc. | |||||
