Eat The Dream – Gnawa Music From Essaouira

Add Item to Want List
LP (Item 608926) Sublime Frequencies, Mid 90s — Condition: New Copy

Spiritually resonant Moroccan trance music – recorded in Essaouira, Morrocco by Tucker Martine on a visit in the mid 90s! The record is, for the most part, beautiful results of an informal gathering of Gnawa music master Maallem Boubker Ghania. The opener "Chelha" sets the pace with an entrancing solo guimbri by Maleem Abdellah Ghania – a wonderful start to a great set! Other titles include "Dahven", "Mektoub", "Tseuheur/Chehade" and "Fraja" by the ensemble of Mamoud Ghanja and his son Abdellah. Also includes a couple recordings of unknown musicians and street sound recordings: "Mogador" and "Wedding Street Procession". (Limited edition.)  © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc.
