Sabor Tropical

CD (Item 601277) Antilla, Early 60s — Condition: New Copy

Plenty of sabor here – a great deep groove that comes from the tight trumpets and punched-up percussion of the group! The album's heavy in montuno modes – and rolls around strongly with a really sharp vibe throughout – even on some of the mellower tracks, which still have this "umph" that's undeniable! Vocals are by Miguelito Cuni and Rene Alvarez, who sound great together – and titles include "Canallon", "Quimbombo", "Nereyda", "Fidelina", "Me Voy Contigo", "Rompe Saraguey", and "Yo Soy Tiburon".  © 1996-2014, Dusty Groove, Inc.

Johnny Ray's got a new groove here – one that takes his older salsa mode and changes it up for the younger generation by bringing in a fair bit of reggaeton rhythms! The backings are often a bit more programmed and electric than Johnny's other records, but there's still a bit of live salsa ... CD
