One of the funkiest records we've heard from Lee Fields in years – and most of his records are already pretty darn funky! This one's got a very different approach than some of Lee's recent deep funk sides – a more electric, 70s-styled slow funk groove – one that begins with great slow-stepping drums that burn with a nice southern soul undercurrent – topped off by warm keyboards and horn bits, all grooving at a laidback groove that's really outta site! "Honey Dove" is also incredible – and begins with a super-dope guitar bit that just snakes out at a really slow, slinky pace – setting things up for the mellow funky drums, and Lee's total soul vocal part!  © 1996-2014, Dusty Groove, Inc.

A little jewel from Little Jewel – a sweet little single with some mighty raw grooves! "I Want To" is a wicked bit of female funk that rivals some of the Marva Whitney gems from the late 60s – weird fuzzy organ riffing along with Jewel's vocals, and this cool cowbell beat ... 7-inch, Vinyl record

We've definitely got the jones for this cool little cut – a righteous funky number about the evil power of drugs – but set to one of the trippiest grooves we've ever heard! The track feels like a raw indie take on territory explored by The Temptations and Norman Whitfield – but ... 7-inch, Vinyl record

PKC/Tramp (Germany), Late 60s. New Copy (reissue)
A couple of hard grooving tracks from Aalon Butler & The New Breed Band! "It's Got To Be Something" is a nice raw edge to the rhythm and some really feverish vocals by Butler.
