One Flight Too Many – More Rare & Unreleased Houston Funk
LP (Item 26361) Funky Delicacies/Tuff City, Late 60s — Condition: New Copy
Deep soul, blaring horns, and funky guitars! The TSU Tornadoes were one of the great lost groups of the Houston scene of the 60s – and this second volume in Funky Delicacies' series on the band features a whopping amount of previously unissued material from the vaults of Ovide Records! The album starts out with some nice 60s vocal soul groovers – like a cover of "Nothing Can Stop Me", and the tracks "Only Inside" and "Got To Get Through To You". It then moves into some fierce soul instrumental territory – like the band's semi-hit "The Goose", a great wailer that was only ever issued before on 45 – plus other instrumental takes of vocal songs, like "It's Your Thing", "Work On It", and "What Good Am I". Also includes alternate takes of "The Toronado" and the great "Nee Nee", different from the ones on the band's other album! © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc. | |||||
