Instrumental versions of hits from two different singers! Hits Of Sinatra features full orchestrations from Robert Farnon on a host of material made big by Ol' Blue Eyes – including a fair bit of the Sammy Cahn/Jimmy Van Heusen numbers that led off some of Sinatra's best albums for Capitol! In keeping with the Farnon approach, the backings are heavy on strings, but still have a relatively lean feel too – almost a Nelson Riddle sort of style – on tunes that include "In The Wee Small Hours", "Come Fly With Me", "The Second Time Around", "All The Way", and "Young At Heart". A Portait Of Johnny Mathis is a great tribute to the velvet-voiced singer – and one that features some jazz elements stepping out of the larger orchestrations – with work by Shake Keane on flugelhorn, Kenny Baker on trumpet, Johnny Scott on flute, Bob Burns on alto, and Don Lusher on trombone!
