The soaring debut of one of the greatest groups of the disco era – and one that would go onto be the sound of Salsoul Records too! The large mostly-instrumental ensemble is headed up by Vince Montana – who brings plenty of Philly disco touches into play with the group's wonderful blend of tight rhythms, jazzy instrumentation, and full strings – a blend that comes off perfectly, and with a surprisingly lean groove – thanks to Montana's vision, and help from arranger Ron Baker too. There's some surprisingly funky moments at times – that sharp edge of the Sigma Sound rhythm section – and titles include "Chicago Bus Stop", "Salsoul Rainbow", "Salsoul Hustle", "Tangerine", and "You're Just The Right Size". (Spine has a spot of tape & a small rip. Cover has a cutout hole & edge wear.)  © 1996-2014, Dusty Groove, Inc.

You're So Beautiful
Warner, 1971. Very Good+ Gatefold
The last album recorded by Charles Wright with the Watts 103rd Street Rhythm Band – and a set that's even more stretched out and trippy than their other albums! Blue Thumb, 1973. Very Good+ Gatefold
Their first album, and the one that's got their big version of Allen Toussaint's "Yes We Can Can" – which starts with a nice break, too! Other tracks include "Sugar", "Pains & Tears", "Jasa", "River Boulevard", and "Cloudburst". ... LP, Vinyl record album

Where Love Is
Atco, 1970. Very Good+
Obscure LA pop soul group that featured singer Jerry Peters (who later went onto record under his own name), and who were "presented" by Sonny & Cher! The feel of the tracks are a bit in the 5th Dimension/Friends Of Distinction LA sound, with a bit more soul. Peters did the ... LP, Vinyl record album

Wonderful work from Ingram – an incredibly talented soul family who'd spent more than enough time woodshedding in earlier years, and emerged to become one of the strongest mainstream acts of the 80s scene! Our favorite album ever from Roland Kirk – and a beautiful mix of two different sides of his genius! Side one's got Roland doing these crazy takes on late 60's pop cuts like "My Cherie Amour" and "Say a Little Prayer", plus his own "songs", done with soulful ... LP, Vinyl record album
