50s work from Kai Winding – recorded away from his usual partner JJ Johnson, and with a sound that's less bop-influenced than that work. The group features 3 added trombones, in addition to Winding's, making for a "trombone panorama" feeling that's expressed best on the long medley of tunes that takes up most of side one. Other tracks include "The Preacher", "The Party's Over", "Come Rain Or Come Shine", and "Frankie & Johnny". (Original 6 eye pressing with deep groove.)  © 1996-2014, Dusty Groove, Inc.

Verve, Early 60s. Very Good+
A very groovy little record from the famous Kai Winding – hardly the trombone jazz outing you might have guessed from Kai's famous work with JJ Johnson – and instead, an electrified set that's got plenty of cool 60s touches! A very different album than usual for trombonist Kai Winding – one that has him blowing along with some great backing vocals! The set's got an incredibly groovy feel – hardly what you'd expect, given Winding's bop roots – but a real gem overall in the best sweet 60s Verve mode! ... LP, Vinyl record album

Trombone Sound
Columbia, Late 50s. Near Mint-
The trombone sound of Kai Winding is firmly in place – as he solos in the lead of a septet, with 4 extra trombones in the mix to give the record a nice bass-y sound!
